ULTRAFRAGOLA MIRROR

by Ettore Sottsass JR, 1970

Ultrafragola, mirror and light object in one, was designed in 1970 by the Austrian designer Ettore Sottsass Junior in 1970 and is today produced by Poltronova. The almost two-meter-high Ultrafragola wall mirror does not only impress with its imposing size, but also surprises the viewer with an additional function: the integrated lighting.

Ultrafragola Wall mirror

TAGWERC Design STORE furnishing experts recommend Ultrafragola from Poltronova for those, who want to combine exceptional design with sophisticated functionality. Despite its size Ultrafragola has a small depth of only 13 centimeters. Therefore, Poltronova’s Ultrafragola mirror is also ideal for use in hallways, next to the bedroom entrance or walk-in closet. The frame of the Ultrafragola mirror is white when switched off and looks neutral in that way. When switched on, Ultrafragola lights up in Pink, whereby the intensity of the colour appears to decrease from outside to inside due to the arrangement of individual waves. The mirror object owes its name to this special lighting design, because Ultrafragola means ‘ultra- strawberry’.

Ultrafragola was part of the series ‘Mobili Grigi’, designed by Ettore Sottsass Jr. in the late 1960s / early 1970s. Matching the Ultrafagola mirror, the bed ‘Elledue’, a dresser, chairs, table and the lamps ‘Cometa’ and ‘Bruco’ were created. Common to all furnishing objects was the integrated lighting and the wave-dominated design. Ultrafragola is a tribute to the wonderful femininity, because the wave-like profile of the mirror light is to remember long hair, falling down in waves.

In the TAGWERC Design STORE, you acquire the Ultrafragola wall mirror as a re-edition of the original design from 1970 and with a guarantee of authenticity. The Ultrafragola mirror is made by license holder Poltronova. Ultrafragola is made of vacuum-formed acrylic with opal finish and is equipped with led light and glass mirror. The mirror is equipped with a power cable, which enormously simplifies assembly and enables individual placement. Ultrafragola is a unique design object in the style of Radical Design, which will always preserve its particularity.
