Living Tower

Modular residential landscapes were Verner Panton‘s favorite topic. The Living Tower, first time presented in perfection as part of the Phantasy Landscape at the Visiona, uses the three-dimensionality of space. The organically shaped sculpture of two composite elements can be used on four levels. All seating options are ergonomically shaped and therefore extremely comfortable. The each other facing arrangement of the individual seats actively promotes communication. A framework of birch plywood provides stability for the Living Tower. The upholstery made of polyurethane foam is upholstered with fabric and provides the desired comfort.

Verner Panton felt very uncomfortable, beeing caught in one sitting position the whole evening. His Living Tower offers the complete liberation from this compulsion. The seat object blew up all conventional chains as Panton presented it in the late 1960s to the world. To this day, the Living Tower residential sculpture is unique in the furniture world. The further development of the Living Tower, the Living Sculpture, has been part of the design collection of the Center Pompidou in Paris, France, since 1991.

Once conceived, Verner Panton used the Living Tower throughout his life for many room designs. The restaurant Varna Palace and his private villa in the canton of Basel-Stadt are two more examples for this. The production of the residential tower has a turbulent history: from 1969 up to 1970 built by Herman Miller; until 1975 produced by Fritz Hansen in Denmark; in 1997, Stega upholstered in Switzerland; since 1999, the Living Tower is now coming from Vitra. At the design interior specialist Tagwerc you will get the Living Tower as original with certificate.
