Designer Poul Henningsen himself commented on the creation of the PH 5 lamp with the following words: “After 33 years of fundamentally Christian behavior, I have converted to Islam in relation to my broken relationship with the manufacturers of light bulbs. For a long time I believed that consumer consideration and common sense would predominate, but now I’ve become a fatalist. I have accepted fate and, with the approval of Louis Poulsen, designed a PH luminaire that can be used with any kind of light source – light string or 100 watt metal filament lamp. Although a fluorescent tube in the existing form would be too much! ”
